|Born in Maryland, Jerome Maffeo took drum lessons from Victor Litz Music in Gaithersburg from 1979-90. He played in his first band at age 14, and over the next 10 years he bounced around from band to band learning the hard way.Jerome had three mentors over the years. The first was mainly a rock drummer, but was great at basic charting. The second was mainly interested in reading, and the third was interested in jazz funk samba fusion, his name was Francis Thompson, and was the most influential.
During this time, Jerome had also been recording all of his projects which led to him to recording other bands. Through establishing relationships and contacts Jerome recorded such bands as Skin Trip and others. Later, Skin Trip became Live Alien Broadcast and they were down a drummer. Jerome took the opportunity to play and subsequently toured all over the east coast and opened for many established bands like Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Good Charlotte, and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack.
Getting to know Jimi, from Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, from all of the shows, they became back stage friends. Jimmie’s Chicken Shack’s manager Richard Burgess later invited Jerome to join the band when their original drummer left in 2003. Jerome has been playing drums for Jimmie’s Chicken Shack ever since, while at the same time, working in his recording studio, Right on Recording, and even recording the latest CD for his own band.
